We are Hiring a Part-time (potential for Full-time) experienced Bartender for the University Club of Pasadena.

As a Bartender in our Food and Beverage department, you will play a crucial role in providing an exceptional service experience to our members and their guests. Your responsibilities include taking beverage orders, serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and ensuring a delightful member experience. Additionally, you will contribute to the maintenance of the restaurant bar area and equipment, mentor new bartenders, and possess a comprehensive knowledge of the beverage program.
Qualifications:
Essential:

Minimum of 21 years of age.

Three years of bar service experience.

Fluent communication in English with members/guests, management, and co-workers.

Legible communication skills.
-
Basic arithmetic skills.
-
Beverage knowledge – wine, beer ,spirits, including food menu.
Desirable:

Some college education.
-
Certification in liquor, wine, and food service.
-
Previous bar training.
-
Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish.

Certification in alcohol awareness program.
-
Certification in C.P.R.

Knowledge of restaurant computer systems.

Essential Job Functions:
Beverage Preparation and Service

Take orders and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Prepare drinks according to specified recipes and member preferences.

Serve light meals to members.
-
Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.

Conduct monthly inventory checks and assist with ordering supplies as needed.

Develop and suggest creative and innovative cocktail recipes to enhance our menu offerings.
Member Interaction and Satisfaction

Greet members warmly and take their orders, using suggestive selling techniques.

Anticipate members’ needs and respond promptly.

Handle member complaints and ensure satisfaction.
Provide recommendations from the menu and offer a high level of hospitality throughout the members’ visit.

Maintaining Knowledge and Compliance

Maintain knowledge of menu items, liquor brands, and wine selections.

Abide by state liquor regulations, ensuring responsible service.

Adhere to departmental policies and service procedures.

Stay informed about Club services/features and local attractions/activities.
Bar Setup and Maintenance
-
Complete opening and closing side duties, including inventory, stocking, and cleaning.

Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the bar area.

Maintain and use equipment properly.
-
Update menus and wine lists as necessary.
Administrative and Operational Tasks
-
Input orders into the P.O.S. system and process payments.
-
Communicate effectively with other staff members and assist Bar Backs and Cocktail Servers as needed.

Complete reports, logs, and inventory as required.
-
Assist with weekly/monthly inventories and maintenance needs documentation.
Supervision and Leadership:
-
Provide guidance and leadership to other bar staff.
-
Assist in training new staff members.
-
Oversee bar operations during shifts and ensure smooth service.

Coordinate with Clubhouse manager to address any issues or concerns.
-
Act as a point of contact for staff questions or assistance.
-
Ensure adherence to standards and procedures by all bar staff members.
Secondary Job Functions:

Abide by state liquor laws.

Assist in closing reports and walkthroughs.

Review reserved table and member names, follow up on special arrangements.
