Medical Assistant (cardiology/ interventional cardiology)

Location: Humble/Main Clinic (18450 Highway 59 N, Humble, TX 77338)
Estimated Hours: Monday – Friday (8a – 4p
POSITION SUMMARY
Medial Assistants (MA) will perform patient-facing and back-office duties to deliver quality patient care by providing clinical support under the direction of a physician. MA’s work closely with front office staff to ensure an efficient clinic flow and coordination of care. MA’s will provide outstanding customer service to patients, physicians and all other hospital professionals.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Patient Care
1. Rooms patients efficiently while adhering to physician’s designated clinic schedule
2. Performs vital signs, height, weight & blood-oxygen saturation and documents in electronic medical record
3. Reviews medication, family, social, medical & surgical history with patient and updates electronic medical record appropriately
4. Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs)
5. Apply and educate patients on Holter, event & telemetry cardiac monitors
6. Collaborate with monitor/device representatives to perform ICD/Pacemaker device checks during clinic
7. Provide timely responses to patient’s clinical inquiries via telephone, email or in person
8. Review, communicate, and educate on laboratory results, imaging studies, medication refills, and medication changes with patients per protocol and at physician’s request
Back Office Duties
1. Prepare patient clinical charts
2. Obtain & abstract outside medical records
3. Clean & maintain medical equipment
4. Medical supply management & restock
5. Receive and provide timely responses to patient’s clinical inquiries via telephone, email or in person
Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education & Licensure
- High School Diploma / GED
- Completion of medical assistant training program
Minimum Preferred Experience: 2 years of relevant experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Vital sign equipment skills
- Non-invasive blood pressure
- Temperature
- Pulse oximeter
- Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting in order to observe, assess and interact with clients.
- Stand or sit for extended periods of time, stand for up to 6-8 hours a day.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading materials up to and including 20 lbs.
- Visual and auditory ability to work with clients, staff and others in the workplace continuously.
- Frequent speaking and listening to clients, staff and other professionals in meetings and on the phone.
