TITLE: Associate Director/Educator, Division of Nursing
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Associate Director/Educator is responsible for carrying out all educational activities of the Association related to labor action and collective bargaining matters.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to the Director of Nursing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides educational services to MNA local units in carrying out the goals of MNA’s
Labor Program by:
a. Developing an ongoing labor education institute for the membership.
b. Develop ongoing labor education for the Labor Action Division staff.
c. Provide training and skill development for local chairpersons.
d. Plan a series of regional workshops.
e. Continue to develop a resource center at the MNA.
f. Work with local unit leadership to improve, maintain and develop local unit organization, membership, recruitment and communication systems. Assist local units in developing contract proposals. Supply unit leadership with information needed to support proposals. Provide guidelines to local leadership on materials they should collect.
g. Evaluate local units need for educational programs and provide as appropriate or arrange through other Association resources.
h. Assist members in utilizing the resources of the Association and other appropriate agencies as needed.
i. Interpreting the goals and programs of the Association to local unit members.
j. Reporting on local unit educational needs to the Director, MNA staff and members where appropriate.
2. Participates in MNA staff meetings, serves on staff committees as requested and submits activity reports in a timely manner.
3. Participates and assists the MNA Board of Directors as assigned by the Director.
4. Assists and participates in MNA Conventions.
5. Acts as a resource on all MNA programs and activities.
6. Keeps informed of economic trends, Labor Board decisions, general trends in labor relations, especially those affecting the health care industry.
7. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Labor education experience – preferred.
2. Labor Relations experience – required.
3. Advanced education in labor relations, business or law preferred.
4. Leadership experience required.
5. Experience and knowledge of the health care profession and experience as a local unit leader desirable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $83,000.00 - $156,000.00 per year
