Summary:
The Data Engineer is a senior member of the Analytics team with responsibilities in database administration, application development, mentorship, and project management. The Data Engineer also functions as top tier Business Intelligence Developer and takes on the most sophisticated and challenging reporting projects.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience with data or financial analysis. Healthcare setting preferred
- Programming and Web Development experience (Python, C#, R)

Responsibilities:
- Cogito/BI Administration:
- Maintain security classes and templates in EPIC for Cogito-related security
- Maintain all Analytics’ Windows servers (patching, monitoring, troubleshooting)
- Perform Cogito upgrades when Epic is upgraded, including upgrading the Clarity Data Model and Epic-released reports
- Ensure that all ETL completes successfully every night, modify ETL, create fixes and one-off executions as needed
- Application Development
- Develop and maintain web applications using ASP.net MVC, C#, jQuery, etc. – including our Extract Management Console which currently automatically transmits 250+ separate data extracts; reports.riversidehealthcare.net, Cobalt, etc.
- Develop and maintain backend database models to support new applications and features
- Develop and maintain SQL functions, views, stored procedures, etc. to enhance application performance
- Use Git/GitLab to maintain our codebase, and teach team members how to better use and troubleshoot Git. Also Gitlab server admin.
- Use C#/batch files to automate reoccurring tasks
- Monitor and track end-user adoption of applications
- Database Administration
- Responsible for all maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting and security of Analytics’ SQL Servers (roughly 50 databases on 6 servers, not counting system databases) as well as SSRS (Reporting Services) and SSAS (Cubes).
- Update/upgrade SQL Server as needed.
- Query performance and troubleshooting
- Create and administer SQL Agent Jobs to automate all that can be automated (database/index maintenance, integrity checks, special data flow tasks e.g. snapshot generation, cube processing, notifications for example when ETL fails, etc.)
- Custom SQL Server Integration Services package development
- Perform any backups/restores as needed outside the normal daily backups
- Assist with planning and strategy for custom applications and database objects to optimize maintainability and performance
- Mentor Business Intelligence Developers and serve as a leader in the development of Analytics department goals and policies.
- Manage report request queue for assigned reporting domains and produce timely and high quality reports
- Maintain expertise with the following reporting tools and development environments:

- RMC Extract Management

- Assist in the maintenance and testing of RMC report library.
- Act as liaison with end users to document issues, problems, problem analysis, and resolutions.
- Assist in the strategic planning of Analytics initiatives, including new deployments, future needs, systems integration, and growth of decision support applications.
Work with vendors to develop custom data extracts and manage automated data exchange
