POSITION SUMMARY
The Video Production Technician’s role is to support the Public Relations Manager within the County. This includes live streaming, videography and editing, as well as maintaining equipment while ensuring its optimal performance. The position will assist in setting the creative direction for the county’s video content. The position will also support the Public Relations Manager in other roles such as press releases, newsletters and the general marketing of the County.
Work is performed in an office and at various facilities and locations around the county. This work area is sometimes noisy. Work requires intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, or walking and lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a diploma or degree in the field of Public Relations, Marketing, Broadcasting, Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, and other entertainment and media studies. Sufficient experience in live streaming, videography and editing are a must. Three or more years of related experience in a similar position is preferred.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Coordinates, operates, and produces live daytime and evening broadcasts (live streaming) of Board of Commissioner and other public meetings and ensures the recordings are placed on the website and other channels in a timely manner

Works with Public Relations Manager to set creative direction for the County’s video content

Writes, creates and edits scripts or storyboards for video production projects.

Films and provides post production services for video projects such as public service announcements (PSAs), department information videos, event promotions, or other long and short form videos as necessary for the Public Relations Manager and other departments.

Coordinates time-lapse video projects with departments. Installs, maintains, and retrieves content from time-lapse equipment on sites.

Maintains, updates, recommends, and procures equipment for video production use and develops best practices, guidelines, policies, and standards for video asset use.

Helps grow social media engagement with video content

Works with the Public Relations Manager to ensure all video content promotes a positive image of the County and meets the voice and visual elements of the County’s style and branding guidelines

Provides strategic direction for video production elements, coordinating with other departments to conceptualize, create and utilize cross-platform videos to promote county initiatives

Develops workflow and schedules all stages of video production to ensure deadlines are met; monitors and reports on status of work in progress to the Public Relations Manager

Attends monthly Public Relations meetings and is prepared to run the meeting in the absence of the Public Relations Manager.

Serves as liaison with County departments, coordinating filming requests, content delivery and providing A/V technical expertise. Coordinates pre-meetings with representatives to ensure A/V requirements are met

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent technical knowledge of audio-visual and videography equipment

Experience installing and maintaining audio visual and presentation equipment

Hands-on troubleshooting experience

Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems and standards

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools, keyboard and mouse, components and peripheral accessories

Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation and OEM guides

Ability to conduct research into audio-visual products as required

Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language, “non-technical”

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a diploma or degree in the field of Public Relations, Marketing, Broadcasting, Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, and other entertainment and media studies. Sufficient experience to resolve problems in a timely manner and plus listen and answer customer questions. Three or more years of related experience in a similar position is preferred.
A combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
