Position: Accounting and Finance Manager
Location: Torrance CA
- Semi-Hybrid office min 3 days/week
Reports to: CEO
FLSA Status: Exempt

Base Salary: $100-120K (DOE)
Summary
This position, Accounting and Finance Manager is a management responsible for the overall accounting and finance management of the company, supporting and promoting the company’s profitable goals and objectives. This includes overseeing the accounting and finance department, organizing and implementing financial policies and procedures together with Japan HQ, and ensuring that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The A&F Manager is also responsible for preparing and maintaining the company’s budget, forecasting future financial performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

Oversees the daily workflow of the assigned department(s).

Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Accounting & Finance
- In collaboration with the executive management team in Japan and the U.S., develops, implements, and controls the essential operating systems, information, and financial business of the company.

Organizes and implements policies, procedures, and best practices to support achievement of the company objectives and required standards.

Defines, implements, and monitors key performance indicators and strategic objectives for the company; communicates results with the executive management team.
- Oversees the preparation and reporting of all financial statements and reports to Japan HQ; oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting.

Manages multiple accounting functions and operations such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting; works with external partners as needed.

Manages the company’s treasury functions, including cash flow management, investments, and debt financing.

Develops and implements financial strategies to support the company’s business goals, which includes business planning, monthly and annual forecasting, budget control, etc.

Manages the company’s risk management program.

Provides necessary recommendations to the executive management team on investment and other critical matters to advance the business and increase profits.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including but not limited to tax laws, GAAP, IFRS, FAR, and CAS.

Corresponds external and internal audits including audit firms and local authorities.

Performs other duties as assigned.
2. Other
- Works with the IT team at Japan HQ and third-party vendors to ensure the proper setup and improvement of the company’s IT system.
- Takes responsibility for employment decisions in the department and oversees the overall hiring strategy and its progress for the entire organization.
- Maintains a deep knowledge of the markets and industries of the company.
- Leads special projects, such as mergers and acquisitions or restructuring initiatives as needed.
- Performs other duties to benefit the company or its group.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of financial and legal best practices and requirements with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical financial counsel to executive leadership.
- Thorough understanding of and personal involvement with systems and methodologies of finance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including accounting and HR-related software.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

More than 8+ years of proven experience in accounting and finance.

Relevant certificate(s) or license is highly desirable.

Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing vision.

Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.

Consumer retail experience strongly preferred

Familiarity with diverse business functions such as retail store operations and management, business development, marketing, PR, e-commerce, corporate functions, etc.

Reporting experience to overseas headquarters is highly desirable.
Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to travel. This position is required to work a minimum of 3 days per week at office in Torrance, CA to ensure employee engagement and effectiveness throughout the entire organization.
