Summary
Provide health care services to students by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):
- Participate in medical examinations and review findings to evaluate the health status of students.
- Provide first aid and emergency aid to students and school staff.
- Administer prescription and non-prescription medication.
- Administer mandated screening such as vision, hearing, scoliosis, diabetes, and acanthosis nigricans.
- Assist with the care of disabled children.
- Instruct classes in subjects such as child care, first aid, and home nursing and establish nursing policies to meet emergencies.
- Cooperate with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of school children.
- Plan school health program in cooperation with medical authority and administrative school personnel.
- Assist teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education.
- Work with community agencies in planning facilities to meet the needs of children outside school situations.
- Follow Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
Education & Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN);
- Bachelor's degree;
- Three to five years of related experience;
- First Aid and CPR Certification;
- Hearing and Vision Screening Certification required;
- Successful candidate will have a working knowledge of school health policies and state guidelines.
