St. Vincent dePaul Outreach Ministry is searching for an asst manager for the Bread for Life Community Food Pantry. The food pantry is currently open M - TH, 8 - 4:30. Some community-facing work happens outside regular business hours but is always scheduled well in advance.
General Summary: The Asst Manager assists the Manager in all aspects of the Bread for Life Food Pantry. The Asst Manager assists the Manager and Executive Director on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, forecasting needs, and securing new funding for the Food Pantry. This person will assist with the financial management of the budget.
Essential Duties and Tasks:

1. Recruit, provide orientation and training, and supervise qualified volunteers and employees.
2. Foster an atmosphere of respect for clients, volunteers and employees, confirming the dignity of each person.
3. Assist in Managing appropriate inventory levels to provide a broad choice of nutritious food for clients.
4. Maintain a safe work environment.
5. Assist in Managing current programs of the food pantry.
6. Assist with Community-facing work with community partners, residents of Nelson County, and the media, to include attendance at community events.
Effort and ability to:
- Drive our box van and pick up truck.
- Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Specific vision abilities include close and distant vision.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.
- Effectively utilize time and resources, respond to deadlines and use sound judgment when making decisions.
- Accurately examine and analyze information presented and make independent decisions.
- Occasionally use warehouse equipment, stocking (lift under 50 lbs.)
Machines, Tools and Equipment use and maintenance of:
Office Equipment: Computer, printer, scanner.
Warehouse Equipment: Walk-ins, Freezers, Refrigerator, Pallet jacks
Working Conditions:
This work is performed in a warehouse/office setting with moderate noise due to
computers, printers, warehouse equipment and people moving about.
Criteria for employment and compensation:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Must possess a minimum of one year of inventory management experience, preferably in a food pantry or restaurant.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
- Obtain State of Kentucky Person-in-Charge certification within 30 days of hire
- Successfully complete the CMG Insurance Certification to operate Agency vehicles.
- Must be able to pass a background check and driver license background check.
