Roles & Responsibilities:
This position requires responsibility for all aspects of the gross cutting room:
- Assist pathologists in the preparation and performance of human surgical specimen dissection, including the appropriate submission of tissue from a variety of surgical specimens, including complex cases and frozen sections.
- Assuring appropriate specimen accessioning; obtaining clinical history, including scans, x-rays, laboratory data, etc.; describing gross anatomic features; dissecting appropriately and preparing tissues for histologic processing.
- Obtaining biological specimens such as blood and/or tissue for flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and other special studies.
- Photographing all pertinent gross specimens.
- Performing duties relating to the administrative maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, reports and data.
- Assuring proper maintenance of equipment, provision of adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology lab.
- Assisting in the organization and coordination of anatomic pathology conferences as needed.
- As directed by supervising pathologist(s), administrator or manager, the Pathologist Assistant may be responsible for handling chemicals and/or reagents including chemical hazardous waste materials
- Education, Experience, Special Skills:

- Master’s Degree from a NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
- Must be ASCP certified
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills be flexible, and willing to work as a team player.
- Job Type: The hours are 24/3 days per week (with flexibility)
- Must be COVID vaccinated and boosted
