CLASS DESCRIPTION
Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, Bureau of Parks, Forestry Division, seeks a dependable and qualified individual to a fill temporary (maximum of 2 years) non-civil service Community Aide/Administrative Support position at our Camp Small facility. Camp Small is a Baltimore City’s sort yard for all downed and removed trees managed by Baltimore City Recreation and Parks. The facility also houses the urban wood recycling program, which captures value from the materials collected. The program produces kiln-dried lumber, rough-sawn lumber, outdoor furniture, firewood, and more out of the logs and materials brought to Camp Small. These products and materials are sold and distributed throughout the city. We are seeking someone that loves trees, values recycling, enjoys customer interaction, and can tackle administrative duties.
IMPORTANT:
Applicants must show the minimum requirements listed on their application to be eligible. This is a position of trust. Individuals selected for this position will be required to pass a Federal and State criminal background check and receive clearance from Child Protective Services prior to being appointed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position will be responsible for performing a variety of office support duties, which may include but are not limited to the following: greeting customers, answering and directing both incoming calls, emails and visitors; closing out completed requests; updating and maintaining a variety of spreadsheets and justifications to track vendors, supplies and inventory; order supplies, complete sales transactions, schedule vehicle maintenance and filing reports, creating and maintaining customer databases, completing injury reports; enforcing COVID-19 guidelines within the office; a variety of filing; general cleaning and various other duties as needed or required.
Successful candidates will work an 8-hour shift with a 40-minute unpaid lunch break 5 days per week, generally between the hours of 9:0 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
AND
EXPERIENCE: One year of customer service and clerical experience.
OR
NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): Six months of additional experience can be substituted for one year of High School up to two years only.
