General Duties and Responsibilities

Provide assistance with daily living activities and routines such as:
- meal planning and preparation
-
personal appearance and hygiene
- laundry
- maintaining a clean and orderly home environment
- following a daily schedule
- taking medication accurately
- following personal care routines such as showering, dressing, and toileting
- support to engage in community activities
- assistance with any transportation needs
- day to day problem-solving

Participate in job-related training, staff meetings, and supervision meetings as scheduled.
Workplace Safety Rules

Wear safe shoes when working:
-
Shoes should be comfortable and supportive with non-slip soles.

Never wear flip-flops or sandals when working. They are not safe around wheelchairs and mechanical lifts.

Be aware of your body when lifting:
-
Feet must be shoulder width apart, back straight, and lift with your leg muscles.

Keep the weight that you are lifting close to your body.
-
Avoid twisting and pulling motions.

Never try to lift someone off the floor yourself:
-
Call a supervisor or on-call for assistance.
-
911 may need to be called to help you; this will keep you and the person supported safe.

Prevent slips and falls by wiping up any spills and picking up dropped items right away:
-
Watch for water on the floor after a bath or shower.
-
Make sure other staff and the people you support know when the floor is wet after cleaning.
