CUSTODIAN
Supervisor: Building Principal
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma and certification of proficiency from the Missouri Custodial Training Program.
Experience: Preferred two years.
Skills:Be able to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean environment in which to learn, play and develop.
Demonstrate an aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
Contract Terms: Salary and work year to be established by the Maintenance Director.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The custodian shall keep the buildings in a clean, wholesome and healthful condition, free as possible from dust and other noxious substances.
2. The custodian shall be responsible for the heating and cooling equipment and shall keep them thoroughly clean and in good running condition at all times.
3. The custodian shall keep the heating and air conditioning units in such a condition as to insure a properly heated building at all times the building is in use; the temperature of the rooms to be kept as nearly as possible at 68 degrees to 70 degrees for winter hours and 78 to 82 degrees in the summer.
4. The custodian shall do any scrubbing and cleaning that may be required. The building will be thoroughly cleaned at least twice during the school year. All windows, doors, walls, closets and storage areas will receive appropriate cleaning.
5. The custodian shall do any scrubbing and cleaning that may be required: shall thoroughly clean the building at least once a year, washing all windows, doors, walls, closets, etc.; and shall use the material provided in a careful and prudent manner. Daily the custodian shall keep the basins, water closets, and toilets in a clean, sanitary condition, scrubbing and cleaning them regularly with the material provided.
6. The custodian shall review and examine all facilities to ensure the entire complex is a safe environment for all concerned. Systematic reviews will be scheduled and any concern will be addressed through the proper channels.
7. The custodian will ensure the buildings are closed and secured at the close of school. A consistent procedure will be established to check all windows and doors for proper closure. Periodic walk through inspections will be scheduled to address any unsecured concern.
8. The custodian shall immediately report to the supervisor all breaks, leaks, and other defects that cannot be corrected without assistance.
9. The custodian shall apply to the Maintenance Director for all supplies needed in his/her work.
10. The custodian shall keep as presentable a condition as the nature of the work will permit.
11. The custodian shall be kind and considerate to pupils, courteous to teachers, and helpful to principals in helping to maintain order in and around the school premises.
12. The custodian shall carefully guard the buildings and property from damage by fire or otherwise and shall act as custodian of the buildings and grounds during vacation.
13. The custodian shall assist the maintenance supervisor in maintaining the buildings and grounds.
14. The supervisor will give each custodian a list of basic daily duties. The Superintendent will receive copies.
15. The custodian shall perform any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director and/or building principal.
16. The Board of Education reserves the right to annul or terminate the custodian’s contract for incompetency, inattention to work for personal habits inconsistent with proper rules of conduct.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of support staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.10 - $20.10 per hour
