Job Summary:
The Patient Billing Representative is responsible for timely monitoring of the patient accounts from billing through final resolution. Through the process, the patient billing representative does follow up with insurance companies, assists with patient financial/billing questions, makes payment arrangements, and performs collection activities when necessary. Creates a positive patient experience by always being polite, compassionate, and professional.
Duties include:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and billing information
- Reviews patient bills for accuracy and completeness; obtains missing information.
- Collaborate with patients and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies
- Assist with medical collections and handle patient inquiries regarding billing issues
- Review patient demographics and make changes as appropriate. Such as enter demographics as needed and update patient insurance information to guarantee correct insurance billing.
- Enter notes on the account, appropriately and timely, which would include all correspondence allowing anyone to understand the activity on the account. This would also include taking action on any correspondence that is noted in a timely manner.
- Assist with pulling EOB's from insurance websites
- Assist with posting payments onto accounts and line items.
- Monthly Reporting Patient AR activity
Skills:
- Proficiency in medical office billing procedures and terminology
- Experience with medical billing software systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve billing discrepancies and insurance issues
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, staff members, insurance companies, and patients
- Excel and Microsoft office programs
