This role provides support, leadership, and oversees all Human Resources functions within a manufacturing facility. The Personnel Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Human Resources programs, including employee relations, talent acquisition, training, communications, compensation, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Regional Director, the Personnel Manager serves as the daily business partner to the Operations Director.
- Maintain positive employee relations by assisting supervisors in counseling associates, monitoring associate separations, addressing workplace problems, developing plant policies and procedures, and ensuring open employee communications.
- Perform administrative duties, such as public relations tasks, participation in staff meetings, supervision of company donations and sponsorships, administration of company uniform program, and representation of the company in unemployment hearings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations through the development and maintenance of the Affirmative Action Program, attending training seminars, and conducting research.
- Conduct recruitment for plant positions by liaising with recruiters, creating advertisements for media, coordinating staffing for open positions, conducting interviews, and assisting with employee orientations.
- Manage employee recognition programs and organize company functions.
- Serve as a resource for employees, ensuring understanding and compliance with HR policies and regulations.
- Develop and implement HR initiatives that foster effective employee and management relations.
- Advise management on potential problems and recommend and implement appropriate solutions.
- Suggest innovative approaches, policies, and procedures for continual improvement and act as a change agent within the plant.
- Participate in the development and implementation of plant goals, objectives, and systems.
- Monitor HR key performance indicators, identify root causes of workforce issues, and drive improvement initiatives.
- Maintain department records and reports.
- Participate in company-wide HR projects and meetings.
- Manage vendor relationships, if necessary.
- Collaborate with the Compensation and Benefits team to ensure competitive talent programs are in place.
- Partner with the Safety department to promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in an HR manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with HRIS - Workday.
- Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Ability to lead and work well within a team environment.
- Effective multitasking abilities in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and math skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to large audiences and senior management.
- Strong phone skills with consistent communication to all parties.
The Personnel Manager will manage one or more Human Resources Administrators or Generalists. The role includes supervising and monitoring work performance, making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments as needed.
