Crim & Villalpando is hiring a case manager/legal assistant to assist the supervising attorney with a personal injury docket. This position supports the attorney handling both pre-litigation and litigation files from inception to settlement. This is a unique position that allows the candidate to handle a client's personal injury case from beginning to end.
The right candidate will be self motivated, organized, detail oriented, a team player, and knows how to delegate tasks. Pay will align with experience level.
- Ensure reliable and consistent client updates are being given on each file.
- Request medical billing and records from a third-party medical records service.
- Communicate with adjusters and various insurance company staff to get information and decisions you need.
- Make confident decisions on next steps with a file, coordinating with the supervising attorney as necessary.
- Be able to establish trust and connections with your clients, following up with them routinely, and maintaining high levels of client support skills.
- Be able to explain the entire claim and litigation process of a case in detail to a client in a way they understand and answer their questions when they have them.
- Understand the pre-litigation process to a level where you can review medical records and bills to ensure they are complete and accurate for the file.
- Understand medical and health insurance liens and be able to recognize when there is one, send out notices as required, and explain them to clients.
- File pleadings and serve documents in state and federal court.
- Draft and serve discovery and pleadings
- Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and other events with clients, opposing counsel, and supervising attorney.
- Track deadlines and calendar appropriately.
- Ensure every file is organized, clean, and has a task set for follow-up purposes.
Requirements:
- Previous personal injury case manager experience REQUIRED
- Exceptional phone and customer service skills
