The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director, Office of Communications and External Relations (OCER), and the Lubin School of Business by contributing to the development and implementation of digital strategy, social media online engagement, and video production and promotion. Overall, the Assistant Director maintains the editorial voice for Lubin’s social media presence. This position reports to the Director, Office of Communications and External Relations (OCER), and interacts with deans, school and university administrators and staff, alumni, students and student organizations, and prospective students.
The Assistant Director position duties include but are not limited to securing locations and permissions including security clearances and certificates of insurance; casting students, faculty, and staff; planning and facilitating schedules; and coordinating with videography vendors on the editing process.
Position Duties

Drive Lubin’s social presence and engage Lubin constituents (current students and student organizations, accepted students, prospective students, parents, alumni, employers, recruiters, faculty, and staff) on Lubin’s official social media channels. Continually execute, maintain, and refresh social/digital strategy.

Serve as an information hub for social media content; address questions or concerns directed to social accounts. Monitor and manage inappropriate or offensive posts per University protocol.

Maintain Lubin accounts on leading social media platforms and consider additional platforms strategically; execute as appropriate.

Seek out and promote content from across the university and other channels that pertain to Lubin constituents. Create or source original content to further engage the Lubin audience or meet constituent needs.

Source and tell stories about Lubin students and faculty in various content formats and contexts.

Serve as a resource for Lubin staff and faculty on social media; as called upon, advise best practices for social media usage.

Build relationships with student leaders, other university social media representatives, departments, and centers on both campuses.
- Work with students/student organizations, internal departments, University Relations, and key faculty and staff on both campuses to develop and create content for posting on social media platforms; identify and promote events and student organization activities. Identify opportunities for collaboration with other departments.

Represent Lubin on the university-wide Pace Communicators Network (PCN) on Microsoft Teams and participate regularly in PCN weekly meetings.

Collaborate with the Enrollment Marketing team on digital marketing efforts, provide Lubin stories and social assets, and analyze and provide feedback on agency work.

Provide live social media coverage of major university events, including, but not limited to, commencement and awards ceremonies.

Continuously update and refresh social media templates and designs.

Develop monthly statistics and reports of social media growth and highlights.

Hold weekly meetings with student and graduate assistants to discuss and develop trending social media content to help Lubin’s growth on specific platforms; film, edit, develop copy, and post at least five TikTok videos a week to keep up with current trends.

Connect with students to develop weekly features on at least one social media platform.

Seek out guests for Lubin’s podcast, The Lubin Link; record, edit, and develop monthly episodes.
- Develop and execute new social media campaigns based on trends and time of year.
- Moderate LinkedIn group created in 2022 for Lubin School of Business students.

Search university-wide events to develop weekly “This Week at Lubin” events list for social media platforms.

Seek out relevant media opportunities using Cision and HARO for faculty features.
- Record and edit virtual events to be uploaded to appropriate platforms.
- Develop copy for Lubin publications, such as the #LubinLife newsletter and Lubin magazine.
- Ideate, shoot, write, and edit videos promoting the Lubin School of Business.
- Work with the Director to plan and develop video strategy and execute professional video projects as directed. Production duties include: securing locations and permissions including security clearances and certificates of insurance; casting students, faculty, and staff; planning and facilitating schedules; coordinating with videography vendors on the editing process. Publish and promote videos on Lubin’s social media platforms, monitor and analyze video views and produce relevant reports; coordinate production (as necessary) with University Relations and other departments for cross-promotional purposes. Manage relationships with video vendors.

Assist Director with overall event production and promotion; execute coverage of events on social media.

Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Supervision
This position will not have a supervisory role except for possibly students or graduate assistants.
Position Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing/Communications.
- At least three years of experience as a social media/digital content/marketing professional.
- Strong/Excellent communication skills, including oral and written with sensitivity to audience, tone, and nuance.
- Significant competency in posting on social media platforms and passion for this specific line of work.
- Video production and editing skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize.
- Ability to self-teach how to use new software programs for problem solving and efficiency.

Ability to manage priorities, as well as function independently and as an integral team player.

Knowledge about new media and the ability to brainstorm innovative ideas to engage existing and new constituents.
- Ability to be flexible to changing priorities and be collaborative, as well as team focused.
- Basic photo/video editing and graphic design skills (Adobe Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or Lightroom, Premiere Pro).

Content Management and Social Media Management tools experience: Brandwatch, Later, Creator Studio, Facebook Ads Manager, and others as fitting to accomplish the tasks of engaging with Lubin’s constituents.
Work Hours
Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekends on occasion to answer all social media inquiries within 24 hours. This position is based on the New York City campus, but regular in-person meetings and engagement with students, student organizations, and key administrators on the Pleasantville campus is required.
