Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge Wildlife Education Specialist Intern
Position Summary
This internship is to bring on a Wildlife Education Specialist intern who will support the Visitor Services program and the refuge as a whole through various projects. The intern would be responsible for preparing and presenting environmental education programs for a variety of audiences, developing and presenting guided hikes for public audiences and school groups, and engaging with community members. The intern would also actively participate in riparian restoration projects that directly supports the Biology program at the refuge.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop Environmental Education Curriculum
- Give wildlife presentations to classrooms/organizations
- Restoration Work (fence removal, tree plantings)
- Table at community outreach events
- Helping with various projects to preserve wildlife
- Educating students on wildlife
- Connect with state, federal, and local entities
- Study teaching material and strategies
- Provide content for social media
- Develop skill in public speaking

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent Passion for wildlife, conservation, and public lands Basic understanding of conservation practices Willingness to work outdoors Ability to lift 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
Digital fluency in Microsoft and Adobe products
Hours
40 per week
Living Accommodations
Housing is a private room in a shared bunk house that is located on-site
Compensation
Housing is provided on-site
A weekly stipend of $600 a week
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
