You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice by providing clinical and administrative support to our healthcare providers and directly assisting patients.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Duties:
- Take patients' vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, oxygen saturation).
- Measure height, weight, and body mass index (BMI).
- Document patient medical history and update medical records electronically or in paper form.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations by preparing instruments and rooms.
- Collect laboratory specimens (blood, urine, etc.) and prepare them for testing (as permitted by state law).
- Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician and within the scope of practice (as permitted by state law).
- Instruct patients on medications, treatment plans, and preventative care measures.
- Prepare patients for minor procedures.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and confirm insurance information.
- Answer phones, screen calls, and route messages to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain medical supplies and equipment inventory.
- Prepare and process medical records and charts.
- Perform data entry and other clerical tasks.
- Assist with billing and coding (as permitted by state law).
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting (may be substituted for relevant coursework or training).
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in computer software used in medical offices (electronic health records preferred).
- Phlebotomy certification (a plus).
