The Backstage Deli at Luxor Hotel, a premier destination in Las Vegas, seeks an Assistant Chef to join our team. As an Assistant Chef at the Backstage Deli, you will be pivotal in maintaining our high food quality standards and customer service within the iconic Luxor Hotel. You will work closely with our Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure the smooth operation of our kitchen, providing exceptional food that delights our guests at any hour. Your leadership and expertise will help drive the success of our fast-paced, upscale, 24/7 operation, ensuring that every meal is a memorable experience.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Food Preparation: Assisting the head chef in preparing meals for the employee dining room. This involves tasks such as chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and cooking proteins in mass production.
Menu Planning: Collaborating with the head chef to plan menus that are nutritious, varied, and appealing to the employees.
Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene standards to maintain a clean and safe working environment and prevent foodborne illnesses.
Inventory Management: Assisting in monitoring and managing inventory levels of food and supplies to ensure that ingredients are always available for meal preparation.
Supporting the Culinary Team: Training and supervising kitchen staff, ensuring that all team members are proficient in their roles and committed to upholding culinary standards.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent educational experience
2 years of relevant experience as a Sous Chef, Assistant Chef, or Master Cook
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:
Proficiency with large production kitchen equipment.
Strong knowledge of food and beverage preparation and presentation.
General knowledge of mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Proven ability to lead and mentor a diverse team.
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and efficiently juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
