Lead Coach of Competitive Water Polo Ages 10u-18u
Description
Burlingame Aquatic Club (BAC) is recruiting for a part-time Lead Water Polo Coach who will be responsible for the operations of BAC competitive programming. We are hiring for coaches in multiple age groups, 18u through 10u . Must be able to organize the group training program, competition schedules & attendance at games (in coordination with the Head Coach), and handle all communication with parents in the assigned age group . The Lead Coach will be familiar with the local water polo scene, and will work to support team growth. Lead Coaches will stay current in changes to USAWP and local leagues/tournaments. The Lead Coach will ensure a safe training environment while focusing on the competitive success of both individuals and the overall team.
This application is for part-time employment. The candidate may be required to work days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and will fill staffing vacancies as needed. BAC is an equal opportunity employer.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal Head Coach will:
- Have 2+ years of Water Polo coaching experience, and have played at the club, collegiate, or professional level.
- Possess strong leadership skills to motivate and develop athletes. Have strong knowledge in drills, rules, and strategies, and understanding of the rules and regulations governing the sport. Plan, organize, supervise, and run practice to deliver high-quality coaching. Responsible for forming teams and providing them with high level training and competitions. Recruiting new athletes for the team, maintaining player and team records. Ability to help all players improve through practices and individual coaching. Motivating and mentoring players to improve and to develop sportsmanship and respect for the game
- Be able to communicate swiftly and effectively. In contact with the Head Coach and report back on game results, etc. Responsible for representing BAC and its community in a professional manner. Maintain excellent communication with program participants; receive and respond to complaints and inquiries; explain and enforce policies and procedures; promote awareness to prospective participants; celebrate success internally and with the community.
- Possess great organizational skills and teamwork ability. Build excellent working relationships with coworkers and patrons. Manage time and workload in a fast-paced environment;
- Promote team-oriented goal setting, accountability, and clear expectations, Promote sportsmanship, foster character development; monitor progress of individual athletes. Focus on playing fair and adhering to the organization’s code of conduct and creating a safe environment designed to keep athletes healthy and injury-free.
- Maintaining the equipment and facilities to ensure safe playing conditions, Responsible for setting up and cleaning up practices and games when necessary.
- Supervise students in practice areas, on buses and during games, etc.
- Open/Close the BAC facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- 2+ years water polo coaching experience.
- Playing experience at the club/collegiate/professional level.
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Be able to pass a DOJ/FBI background check.
- Posses a valid Lifeguard certification or be willing to obtain one through BAC.
Licenses and Certifications
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Possessions of USA Water Polo coaching certification.
- Possession of a valid Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or completion of certification within 90 days of hire.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
