Brief description of job duties:
1. Prepare all Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance, and Self-Pay Billings
a. Verify eligibility and insure integrity of patient data in the electronic medical record as it relates to level of care and billing.
b. Ensure Physician, and all staff visits are recorded properly in the electronic medical record.
c. Obtain Physician information including the N.P.I. number for new physician, obtain signature for signature log and ensure physician is not on the exclusions list.
d. Enter Notice of Elections with Medicare, Medicaid, and obtain pre-certifications with Private Insurance.
e. Work with all groups to resolve any outstanding or denied claims.
f. Audit accounts receivable to insure accuracy. (Make sure charges are entered correctly and payments have posted correctly.)
g. Assist in the audit of room and board bills against nursing home bills.
2. Work with CMS, Palmetto, and NGS to ensure that all of the organizations reporting requirements are met.
3. Work with Nursing Homes and the Illinois Department of Public Aid to bill and reimburse Nursing Home Room and Board Pass through
4. Set up and maintain financial charts on patients
5. Maintain documentation to insurance companies
6. Assist Nursing Administration
a. Organize charts and breakdown death charts
b. Input patient data
c. Filing
d. Faxing-including, but not limited to new admissions paperwork
e. Make copies of forms including, but not limited to; nurse’s notes, fax cover sheets, blank forms, and med lists.
f. Stock Paper
g. Verify all physician certificates are complete and accurate
7. Assist volunteers who come in to fax, or those helping out in the nursing department
8. Assist Reception
a. Answer Phones and cover lunch for receptionist
b. Assist in the ordering of bereavement flowers
- Practice, understand and be compliant with all aspects of the infection control program and safety program, as it pertains to job duties.
10. Other duties as assigned by the CFO and/or Chief Executive Officer.
