The Engineering Team Lead is responsible for guiding and mentoring the MPD Engineering team. They will lead the planning, coordination, direction, and reporting of all MPD operations in their region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and environmentally responsible drilling engineering solutions for client wells.
- Ensure projects comply with company standards and follow industry-recommended practices, APEGA, API standards, and any other governing codes or regulations for that area.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects.
- Coordinate and facilitate flexible team schedules to meet customer drilling requirements, such as providing after-hours engineering support.
- Interface regularly with client engineers, superintendents, field staff, and third-party services.
- Provide technical advice and recommended solutions for MPD-related drilling problems.
- Specify appropriate MPD equipment and operations that adhere to client design parameters to achieve the well objectives.
- Travel to customer locations to support ongoing operations as needed.
- Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for improvement or optimization.
- Collaborate with management to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the engineering department and company.
- Exemplify the corporate B.E.S.T. P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. in all aspects of work.
Qualifications
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 8+ years of direct MPD Drilling Engineering experience.
- Solid experience leading and providing mentorship to a technical team, with a Background in drilling engineering.
- Proven history of delivering well projects.
- Experience with hydraulic simulator software (Drill Bench, WellPlan, WellFlo, Virtual Hydraulics etc.)
- Well Control, First Aid, and other applicable safety/field tickets.
- Drilling & Completion field experience.
