NATURE OF THE POSITION
The Electrical Controls Technician manages electrical controls projects and takes the lead in control system design, PLC and HMI program development and debug of projects, tests and configures instrumentation as well as providing documentation and cross-training in instrumentation setup of other employees of PHOENIX. All these tasks shall be done in such a manner that assures operational parameters and customer specification requirements are met including quality and workmanship requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead electrical checkout and testing efforts. Develop and implement procedures for documentation of checkouts and training of PHOENIX personnel for the same.
- Provide technical support in the areas of field electrical and instrumentation checkout.
- Support the Electrical Project Managers with programming development and debug.
- Provide technical assistance to customers including field startup.
- Work as a liaison between Service Departments and Engineering in the areas of programming and electrical startup, and other duties as required.
KNOW – HOW
The position requires 3 - 5 years hands-on experience in an industrial controls environment or a combination of experience and a degree in a related field. Skill with various PLC and HMI development applications as well as proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing applications is necessary. Familiarity with AUTOCAD is beneficial. Strong written and oral communications skills are vital.
PROBLEM SOLVING
The Electrical Controls Technician should support PHOENIX Project Managers by completing system controls design, electrical checkout and testing within the required specifications. This person should also be able to offer technical support to the Operations and Process Departments.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
Days and hours of work are approximately Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the ability to work outside of business hours from time to time as required by PHOENIX.
TRAVEL
This position requires 30 – 40% travel.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Electrical Controls Technician works under the direction of the Controls & Automation Manager. This person is responsible for their own safety; the image the customer has of PHOENIX, and for performing their duties in a thorough and professional manner.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
