Job Summary:
The Driver transports Independent Living (IL) residents in a safe and efficient manner to activities that are held away from the facility. Provides medical transportation, when needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Transports Independent Living residents in a timely and courteous manner to activities that occur away from the facility by driving the bus, station wagon, or minivan. Assists residents getting on and off the vehicle as needed.
- Ensure all supplies needed for an event are transported with residents by putting them in the vehicle prior to departure and putting them away upon return to the facility.
- Ensures that minivan and bus are kept in good working order by reporting any suspected problems to the maintenance department.
- Substitutes and assists Activities Assistants upon request by driving Independent & Assisted Living residents to scheduled medical appointments.
- Maintains cleanliness of minivan and bus by taking them to the carwash as needed.
- Ensures that campus mail is delivered to cottage residents by placing campus mail in appropriate kiosk.
- Guarantees campus parcel packages are delivered ina timely manner to residents and team members across the community.
- Keeps administration aware of problems and concerns that arise during outings by reporting any issues to the supervisor.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid North Carolina Certified Driver’s License (CDL).
- Ten (10) years’ good driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of standing and walking short distances for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds.
- Stoop and bend at the knees, twisting from side to side at the waist.
- Reach above, below, and at shoulder level.
- Sensory demands include vision correctable to 20/20, touch using fine finger movement/dexterity, smell, and hear correctable to normal range.
Work Environment:
Works throughout the community. Possible work hazards include bloodborne pathogens, moving parts, and muscular strains.
