Mechanical Engineer
Diversified Refrigeration (a commercial HVACR company) has been serving the greater Philadelphia region for over 35 years with commercial and industrial HVAC, refrigeration, and boiler services. We are seeking an experienced HVACR Engineer / Hydronic Engineer / Mechanical Engineer who would like to grow in experience and responsibility with our business. The HVACR Engineer will assist with designing solutions, scoping work in the field with the construction team, developing quantities, estimating, specifying equipment, and preparing job packages for replacements, renovations, new installations, and complex service jobs. These jobs will involve commercial and industrial HVAC, refrigeration, and boiler systems, including energy efficiency upgrades.
The HVACR Engineer will also assist installation teams to set up / kickoff jobs and understand the design and scope of work during execution. The HVACR Engineer will be based in our office near Doylestown and regularly visit customer facilities / project sites to scope the work and support installation teams. The HVACR Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, Service Manager, Boiler Lead, Installation Lead, and Procurement Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Project Manager, Project Engineer, Service Manager, Boiler Lead, and Installation Lead to walk down and scope jobs, including specifying equipment, determining material take off quantities, estimating, and preparing installation work packages.
- Evaluate service requirements and work with the Project Engineer, Service Manager and Boiler Lead to develop design solutions and specify required equipment.
- Prepare drawings for estimates, installation work packages, and permit applications.
- Assist the Procurement Coordinator to specify and quantify equipment and materials for estimates and purchase orders, and answer any supplier questions.
- Prepare permitting packages and obtain job permits from local authorities.
- Keep the team and management advised of the engineering status of scoping, estimates, permitting, job packages, and jobs in execution.
- Maintain positive customer, contractor, and supplier relationships by working in a professional, ethical, and collaborative manner.
- Provide regular updates to management and recommend improvements to work processes.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial and industrial HVACR system engineering and construction.
- Proficiency in commercial and industrial HVACR systems design using BIM, control theory and application, HVAC air system design and equipment selection, hydronic system design and equipment selection, load analysis and energy modeling, and development of HVACR estimates and work packages for installation.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop practical solutions for customers and installation teams.
- Highly motivated and interested in growing with the business.
- Excellent character references and integrity.
- Ability to interact professionally with leadership team, technicians, suppliers, contractors, customers, and management.
- Highly organized and self-motivated to complete tasks on time.
- Focused on meeting goals and objectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HVACR design systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in HVACR or Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering license in PA preferred but not required.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
