WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing and evaluating quotes, services, quality ratings, and delivery ratings to identify the most desirable suppliers. This role entails purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies with vendors. The Procurement Manager will collaborate closely with sales, planning, and warehouse teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, reduce material costs, and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Lead the procurement team for the manufacturing of electronic and CNC machinery.
- Assess supply needs and approve the ordering of necessary goods and services.
- Ensure communication of customer flow-down requirements to suppliers, including FAR/DFARS, ITAR, offset, public law, quality, and warranty specifications.
- Monitor and proactively address supplier performance and financial metrics, including cost, schedule, and quality.
- Compare material delivery dates to customer program schedules to assess schedule risks and communicate with Program Management to create contingency plans to mitigate risks.
- Oversee quoting and Basis of Estimates (BOE) in support of proposals.
- Coordinate negotiation strategies on pricing for raw materials and delivery with suppliers, ensuring the best price, quality, and delivery.
- Manage departmental workload to adjust for surges in buying, quoting activities, logistical materials fulfillment, and sub-contract management.
- Perform buying tasks as necessary to meet customer schedules for submission of quotes/proposals and production requirements.
- Support external AS9100 and ISO9001 audits, including customer and governmental audits of purchasing, logistics, and sub-contract systems.
- Develop, align, and continuously improve AS9100 & ISO9001 procedures, processes, and work instructions across Phoenix Defense Group Companies.
- Identify opportunities for and negotiate long-term agreements (LTAs) with suppliers to improve price, quality, and delivery of components, goods, and services across Phoenix Defense Group Companies.
- Mentor personnel and actively maintain succession plans to ensure career growth for direct reports.
- Other procurement duties as needed to support the department and the Company.
ABOUT YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering (General or Industrial), or Operations.
- 3-6 years of demonstrated experience in a supervisory, managerial, or similar relevant position.
- 7-10+ years of experience in Buyer/Purchasing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
- Strong supervisory and leadership abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with dynamic demands.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems; experience with Deltek or PLEX is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
- Prior experience in purchasing a broad range of materials such as Information Technologies, medical supplies, office materials and raw materials
- Prior experience working in an ISO 9001 Aerospace/Military Manufacturing environment desirable
- Ability to use purchasing strategies (Min/Max, LTA, Consignment)
- Knowledge in low volume, high max manufacturing highly desirable
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
