Job Title: Nurse – UFR #107
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $58,656-$80,000
Primary Responsibility: To ensure the good physical health of the youth as well as a healthy living environment. To provide guidance and support to staff in the school and residence as they support the overall health and well-being of the students in care.
Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Essential Duties:
- Schedule all physical and dental appointments and other appointments as needed
- Consultation with primary care physicians and dentists for assessment of ongoing care and scheduling appointments with specialist as needed
- Consultation with consulting psychiatrist for prescribed medications
- Have prescriptions filled, prepare prescriptions for individuals and monitor the administration of prescribed medications by appropriate personnel
- Provide education to staff on health issues as well as the side effects and the proper administration of prescribed medications
- Maintain the Health Care Manual and update as necessary
- Attend I.E.P. and treatment meetings/case conferences as requested
- Available for consultation with families on health issues
- Provide health education to youth as needed
- Advise the Program Directors with reference to health issues in the physical site and program
- Provide education to staff on nutrition and the need for the provision of nutritious meals
- Attend quarterly case conferences and, as needed, weekly team meetings
- Work with Nazareth’s pediatrician and psychiatrists to review/update/approve Health Care Policy annually
- Review Health Care Policy with all new staff and periodically train all staff as necessary related to health and medical needs of students
- Performs and completes all other duties as assigned.
In all areas, perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Other Duties:
- Maintain professional certification requirements
- Maintain active certification in MAP, First Aid, CPR, CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention and attend all other required trainings
- Available 24 hours, 7 days a week for emergencies
Education
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a registered nurse by the MA Board of Registration in Nursing
Knowledge/Experience:
- Knowledge of or ability to learn pediatric psychopharmacology
Licenses/Certification:
- Licensed as a registered nurse by the MA Board of Registration in Nursing
- Certified as MAP Consultant
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to balance competing demands of ongoing work and occasional emergencies
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with other program staff within the agency, and willing and able to work as a team member
- Ability to prepare comprehensive, articulate and legible reports
- Ability to be flexible, sensitive, supportive to the needs of others and able to cope with emergencies
- Must demonstrate maturity and ability to deal effectively with emotionally demanding and stressful situations
- Must demonstrate good judgment in decision making and determination of information that should be communicated to staff and other supervisors
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Bilingual capacity in English/Spanish an asset.
- Must be able to communicate effectively by telephone and in person.
- Must be proficient in computer skills.
- Must have manual dexterity and motor skills to grasp and lift objects up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to physically restrain individuals.
- Must be able to bend and lift up to 25 lbs. to purchase and access program supplies and to handle documentation/case records.
- Must be able to climb for entry and mobility throughout the buildings, which may have several levels of stairs.
- Must demonstrate maturity and ability to deal effectively with emotionally demanding and stressful situations.
- Must be able to record clear messages and keep accurate records.
- Must have mobility and own transportation mode both day and night in order to be able to travel between the agency and community locations to respond to emergencies.
- Must be able to travel to various sites to attend meetings, conferences, and seminars.
- Must be able to travel to collateral resources, hospitals, clinics, etc.
- Must continue to achieve a satisfactory competency and performance evaluation annually.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
