The Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the Vocational Program is responsible for assisting and supporting the individuals in carrying out their daily routines as it pertains to Community Based Day Supports. The DSP will support the individuals during all vocationally based programs. The DSP is responsible for implementing all specific clinical and educational and vocational programs. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to data collection, reading and writing in daily logs, participation in program design and completion of specific area designated area responsibilities.
- Implementation of clinical, educational and vocational program on a daily basis, as indicated and/or scheduled.
- Maintains professionalism at all times, especially while in the community. Support individuals appropriately in the community and always represents Amego in a positive manner.
- Assists in carrying out tasks and/or daily routines. Follows the established daily schedules of activities. This includes participation in recreational activities as scheduled.
- Observes and records accurate and reliable data for programs as established in the educational plan for the individual.
- Participates with other team members in performing all tasks necessary to maintain a clean, safe and organized environment.
- Attends and participates in all morning team meetings and other required program planning meetings.
- Documents information as requested.
- Maintains positive and accurate communication throughout all work responsibilities. Works as an active and constructive team member in all duties.
- Attends, completes, and maintains all required trainings and certifications.
- Observes and safeguards individual’s human rights.
- Assumes other specific responsibilities as deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the individuals.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all individuals and will periodically work in other program locations at the request of a manager. Record all necessary data. Follow principles of PBS (Positive Behavior Supports).
- Follows the appropriate chain of command, reporting all necessary information to supervisor.
- Maintains the necessary MAP Certification. Will dispense medication as needed. Follows established systems to ensure quality health care of the individuals.
- Maintains good communication skills (oral and written) with co-workers, administrative staff, individuals, families and caseworkers.
- Will assist in transporting individuals to activities as assigned.
- Maintains attendance and punctuality.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to timekeeping.
Crisis intervention including consistently carrying out behavior plans; intervening in crisis situations; proper implementation of Behavior Management & Emergency Restraint interventions; accurate & timely completion of incident reports & other related paperwork.
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a high School diploma or equivalency is preferred. College degree
and previous experience is also preferred.
Pay Range: $18-21/hr based on experience
