Overview: International SOS is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Surgeon to join our medical team in Iraq. The General Surgeon will provide patients with preoperative, operative, and postoperative care, ensuring they receive the highest standard of U.S. care. The role involves working closely with the Medical Admin to stabilize patients and coordinate their evacuation to medevac centers or CONUS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care Documentation: All Health Care Providers (HCPs) are required to document the care delivered and any follow-up care needed.
- Quality Improvement and Communication: Attend and participate in various meetings and task force groups to enhance quality and outcomes, address issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and stay updated on new developments, tasks, and policies.
- Patient Dignity and Rights: Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and adhere to the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for patients.
- Mass Casualty Preparedness: Actively participate in Mass Casualty exercises and events to ensure preparedness for large-scale medical emergencies.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall mission and effectiveness of the medical team.
Job Profile:
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a General Surgeon.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
Experience Preferred:
- Experience on a military site or working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
- Recent clinical experience in patient care, having worked at least 6 months out of the past year in a clinical setting.
Education Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical School.
- Completed a General Surgery Residency within the United States.
- U.S. or Canadian Board Certified.
- Hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) license.
- Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English for effective communication.
- U.S. Department of State clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
- Must be able to relocate to Iraq.
- A valid passport is required and must be maintained throughout the stay in Iraq.
