Registered Nurse 2 – Access Center Part Time AM or Full Time Day Shift
The Surgical Specialists Access Center is a safe, quality outpatient facility which specializes in the needs of dialysis access patients and patients with disease of the arteries and veins. Hiring for a PART TIME ONLY - NO BENEFITS position. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND IF LOOKING FOR FULL TIME.
Primary Duties
- Record patient history, medications, and vital signs
- Review pre-procedure labs and notify physician of any abnormal results
- Call and prepare procedure patients
- Circulate during procedures
- Partner with access center team to obtain pre-op vital signs, assist patient into the procedure room, position patient on the procedure table, and connect patient to monitoring devices
- Recover post-procedure patients
- Administer medications per protocol and as directed by the physician
- Monitor expiration dates of medications
- Provide patient/family education
- Communicate with dialysis unit as directed by physician
- Direct flow of surgical add-ons
- E-prescribe medications as directed by physician
- Assist with phone triage
- Assist with minor procedures
- Inventory controlled substances
- Float between the access center and medical office
- Provide clinical support and delegation of medical assistants
- Participate in completion of access center team duties, including, but not limited to:
- Operation of C-Arm
- Procedure room turnover
- Terminally clean procedure rooms
- Saving c-arm images
- Manage/order access center supplies
- Stock access center
- Organization of access center supplies
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Clinical Services
Requirements
Typical Physical Demands: Frequent mobility and\or sitting required for extended periods of time. Frequent standing, bending and stooping required. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires fine motor skills to obtain vitals, assist with minor procedures, draw up injections, bandage wounds, operate general office equipment such as computer, copier, scanner etc.
Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in a clinical/surgical environment and requires frequent use of a computer, and positive patient interaction. Frequent contact with open wounds and\or surgical sites.
Required Skills/Education
- IV insertion
- 1 year experience minimum
- Telemetry Rhythm recognition
- Active, non-restricted Registered Nurse license
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (must not expire within 90 days of hire)
- Electronic health record
- Team player

Preferred experience
- Cath lab/Radiology/Dialysis care
- Emergency room/Intensive Care/Progressive Care
