Job description
The Certified Medical Assistant assists in ensuring the delivery of health care and patient care management for all patients. This position may work across a variety of programs the company offers including Surgical Weight Loss, Medical Weight Loss, and Cosmetics.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment by taking histories and vital signs.
- Performs selected nursing duties such as injections, blood draws, EKG’s, exams and other patient care services as directed.
- Triages and responds to patient communications within practice policy.
- Creates, maintains, copies and files patient files, records, and other information as required.
- Assists with scheduling physician ordered tests and treatments, processing referrals to other providers.
- Assists in scheduling in-office procedures/appointments with other in-house departments.
- Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol.
- Confers with physician regarding any incomplete patient tests/consults or other incomplete order prior to patient visit.
- Coordinates care with disease management or case management programs as needed.
- Prepares, cleans, and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
- Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment.
- Assists in policy and procedure development, running reports, attending meetings and participation in professional development and professional affiliations as requested.
- Maintains confidentiality.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Graduate of accredited school Medical Assistant program.
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, sitting and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
