Job Summary:
We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. This role requires a strong background in optical and medical terminology.
Duties:
- Perform preliminary eye function testing such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and pupil reflexes
- Administer eye medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and laser treatments
- Maintain and clean ophthalmic instruments
- Educate patients on proper eye care procedures
- Handle front desk duties including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information
Requirements:
- Experience in a medical office setting, preferably in ophthalmology or pediatrics
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye
- Familiarity with optical equipment and retail sales of eyewear
- Ability to inhale medical terminology and apply it effectively in patient interactions
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician is a plus
