Veterinary Assistants are valuable members of our medical teams and play a crucial role in patient care and client service. Solano-Napa Pet Emergency Clinic is seeking Veterinary Assistants to join our emergency department team. The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for providing and supporting patient care, client service and all hospital teammates. The Veterinary Assistant must be compassionate and enjoy working closely with patients, clients and teammates.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Deliver exceptional, compassionate nursing care to patients utilizing a variety of technical skills, including diagnostic sample collection, venipuncture, radiography, medication and fluid administration

Understand the importance of a clean and orderly facility, does not hesitate to clean or organize as part of a normal job duty

Admit and perform physical history, initial exam, and minimum vitals as needed on all patients.

Assist with patient procedures and surgeries, including anesthetic induction and monitoring, pre and post operative patient care, surgical suite, instrument, and equipment care

Assist with the efficiency of the doctor by anticipating doctor’s needs and provide medical care, recordkeeping, and client communication as ordered by the veterinarian.

Enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and willingness to pitch in and assist with all roles including customer service tasks
Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience with basic office functions in a busy office environment.

Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can effectively deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.

Able to work with a great attitude and be flexible with clinic/patient/staff needs.

Interact with other team members with professionalism and respect.
-
Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.

Approaches his/her job duties in a mature nature.

Practices excellent communication skills verbal, written and non-verbal.

Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day
