We’re looking to hire an Estimator to join our dynamic and growth-oriented Estimating team. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator is responsible for generating estimated cost for the company to fulfill project scope requirements through the use of documents/drawings provided by customer.
Critical Duties:
- Perform full lump sum “takeoff” of material, labor and vendor costs to supply all materials/scope required for a project using design drawings and specifications.
- Using an Excel Takeoff Spreadsheet, all Materials, Labor, Buyout Costs, and Equipment Costs are to be priced in to build a Scope of Work for the Project that is being Estimated.
- Communicate with the General Contractors to get any questions answered or to get a schedule for when the project will take place.
- Communicate with vendors to request pricing quotes for vendor supplied materials/scope.
- Review all project specifications to capture full scope required for estimate.
- Provide estimating manger with written detailed Scope of Work and Takeoff that is to be submitted to the General Contractor.
- Provide estimating manager with detailed list of inclusions/exclusions and qualifications for use in written proposal to customer.
- Work closely with estimating manager to maintain overall estimating department schedule.
- Track past bids and communicate with the General Contractors for status updates for bid awards.
Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):
- Communicate progress and updates to stakeholders.
- Prepare, present, and distribute project information to the PM, internal support staff, and customers.
Education/Experience:
- High School graduate required. Associate and/or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the industrial/commercial steel fabrication industry.
- Ability to read structural/architectural design drawings and to be able to find changes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, with heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient with Blue Beam and On-Screen Takeoff.
- Must have strong math skills.
- Standard Construction Practices and Procedures from Award to Closeout.
- AISC Practices, Rules, and Regulations in regards to Steel Construction and Design.
- Read, analyze and interpret drawings.
