CAD Drafter II
Job Description:
The successful candidate will serve as a CAD Drafter to support the US Army Reserve, 99th Readiness Division (DIV (R)), Directorate of Public Works Environmental Division, CAD/GIS/SI Branch. This is a civilian, contract position which will provide technical expertise in the fulfillment of products required by the 99th RD.
Selected candidate will provide the following:
- Create working CAD files from field sketches, survey data, written descriptions, and other existing media using computer aided design software (CAD).
- Create computer-based architectural drawings in support of design projects per direction of senior staff.
- Update interior floor plan CAD data to reflect most recent architectural conditions, updates to support area calculations, and depictions of interior usage.
- Create 3D plans from architectural drawings to aid in 3D prints and digital presentations.
- Develop concept designs in coordination with requirements identified by the DPW Engineering staff.
- Participate in peer workgroups to review CAD developed drawings for accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
- Attend design review workgroups, meetings and site visits to support data acquisition and design projects.
- Catalog, interpret, and attribute hard copy architectural documents into pre-existing drawing databases.
- Assist with large format drawing printing, scanning, and copying as directed by senior staff.
- Maintain expertise on CAD and CAD-related software available and recommend hardware/ software enhancements.
Eligible candidate must have at least one year of work experience with AutoCAD software as well as an associate degree, trade school certificate, or equivalent experience in architectural drafting. Experience in Bentley MicroStation preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-tasking ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required. Travel ranging from within a working day up to one business week will be required when necessary.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a government background investigation to obtain CAC
