We are looking for a middle school science teacher to share in our mission of impacting our community through a strong academic foundation and a Biblical worldview to grades 5 to 8. The duties will involve teaching science and the special spiritual ministry of training the child in Christian faith and practices. This person should be able to manage time well, promote collaboration in the classroom, and believe in constantly advancing students to the next level rather than just meeting the set goals. The ideal candidate will be able to organize classroom environments/lessons effectively to meet students’ needs, and differentiating instruction is critical.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Utilizes appropriate and varied instructional methods/materials to help students succeed
· Organizes/utilizes classroom learning center and displays student work
· Maintains ongoing and regular contact with parents concerning student growth and behavior
· Keeps up-to-date anecdotal records and work folders indicating pupil’s current level of functioning in Science
· Submits grades into MSP and responds to parent emails within 24 hours
· Prepares and submits lessons through Planbook
· Maintains/turns in lesson plans and ongoing communication forms weekly to the principal
· Controls classroom environment through positive reinforcement
· Disciplines students while encouraging positive self-growth rather than punishment
· Attends all scheduled weekly/monthly staff and team meetings
· Participates in rotations of lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal duties
· Responsible for any miscellaneous duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
· BS in education, certified to teach science, or relevant license/certificate/endorsement
· Must be able to incorporate current technology into lesson plans
· Ability to utilize technology such as Chromebooks and Google Docs in teaching
· Be able to switch to remote learning when necessary, using whichever platform the school is utilizing (currently Google Classroom)
· Qualities we are looking for are an organized, reliable team player who connects well with students, is adaptable and is flexible when necessary.
· We understand that not every Christian denomination follows the Assemblies of God (AG) doctrine. Being that ACA is affiliated with the AG, as a teacher, you must be aware of the AG doctrine.
· The teacher must realize as a Christian school, teachers must demonstrate a relationship with Jesus, i.e., born again, saved, and be able and comfortable to pass on the teachings of Jesus to their students.
