We are looking for a new Junior Associate Director - Elementary to help lead our Santa Clara Campus. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong subject knowledge in elementary level Math and Language Arts, and have outstanding classroom management skills. Exceptional communication skills and pedagogical instincts are needed not only to teach our advanced curriculum, but also to coach and collaborate with other instructors. The Junior Associate Director program is 6-12 months long, and prepares participants for promotion into long-term Associate Director and Senior Instructor roles.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Teach elementary (Levels 2 - 5) math and language arts classes on a weekly basis.
- Participates in the hiring and training of part-time staff.
- Assists with the campus's administrative and logistical operations.
- Meets with prospective families to assess and determine a student's academic ability and overall fit for program.
- Counsels current students and families as needed to provide student support.
- Responds to customer emails and phone calls.
- Helps design and implement campus community building activities.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree is required. Preferred degree in elementary education, a STEM-related field, or a language arts-related field.
- Minimum 1-year teaching experience, preferred with K-12 students.
- Comfortable interacting and communicating with both students and parents.
- Interest in growing management experience; no prior management experience required.
Work Schedule
Since AoPS Academy is an after-school program, most of our classes and family meetings occur during the evenings and on weekends. As such, it's expected that Junior Associate Directors work a nontraditional schedule during the academic year. During the summer, Campus Directors and Associate Directors typically shift to a more standard Monday to Friday work schedule.
Benefits
This full-time position is a 6 - 12 month training program that will be based at our Santa Clara campus. The starting salary for this position is $76,000. Some benefits of the position include mentorship and training, health insurance, dental insurance, a 401K retirement plan, and paid time off. We also provide a relocation bonus for candidates living outside the greater area.
