Transit Facility Safety Inspector
Home Office: Baltimore
Working Hours: Normal Work Hours – Monday – Friday (anticipate 40 per week).
Background:
Inspectors will proactively identify hazards and unsafe work conditions or within transit operations and services resulting in corrective actions to mitigate identified hazards and unsafe work conditions. Inspectors will identify and report identification of hazards, unsafe work conditions; and identify issues of noncompliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and requirements.
Example inspection components / guidance include:
Ø Fire/Life Safety (NFPA)
Ø Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Act (MOSHA) regulations and requirements
Ø Industrial Hygiene Principles
Ø Hazardous Materials Storage
Minimum Qualifications
The primary purpose of the facility inspections is to identify and report Facilities’ identification of hazards, unsafe work conditions; and to identify issues of noncompliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
The work order is intended to facilitate the identification and resolution of hazards and unsafe work conditions and practices as well as:
Ø Proactively prevent employee work related injuries and illnesses, and accidents/incidents involving MTA's operations, services, and facilities.
Ø Heighten employee awareness as it relates to workplace safety.
Ø Identify hazards.
Ø Inspect for OSHA / MOSH Compliance.
Ø Report observations / findings to Safety Management.
Experience with Transit related Software “Track-It” is preferred.
The task will be at Transit Facilities in Maryland and travel required as necessary.
