ntistry. The job can be full time in the Summer and part time during the school year. The Sterilization Technician *will focus on ensuring that dental tools and equipment are sterile before use. Your duties as a dental sterilization technician include setting up and cleaning the exam or surgery area, ensuring sanitary conditions, and sterilizing surfaces and instruments. Must be a team member who exhibits a positive and enthusiastic personality, and genuinely connects with patients and staff.
*Responsibilities:*
· Decontaminates dental instruments, materials and equipment
· Collects, prepares and organizes dental trays, instruments and equipment’s for schedule dental visits
· Sterilizes dental instruments and materials using the ultrasonic and autoclave
· Maintains order and cleanliness in the dental lab and sterilization area
· Performs and documents light equipment maintenance and repair
· Reports on equipment and instrument failures and/or misplacement
· Does inventory of sterile dental supplies and instruments to determine re-ordering needs
· Maintains OSHA compliance and with OLE Health and Dental department policy
· Disposes of sharps as mandated by OSHA
· Performs, documents and reports on weekly spore testing of autoclaves
· Actively participates in internal quality improvement and works within the Dental team to suggest, implement and measure such projects
· Demonstrates cooperative behavior with supervisors, colleagues and patients
· Clean and disinfect operatory and sterilize instruments in accordance with department policy and OSHA guidelines
· Performs other duties as assigned
