M1 is looking for an Aircraft Painter
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Performs corrosion prevention and treatment IAW applicable directives to include repainting the surface on
squadron aircraft.
- Coats surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns
and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper.
- Smooths surface with sandpaper and steel wool, roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool
to insure that paint adheres to surface, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint
insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils.
- Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data,
engineering data, maintenance requirement cards, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method
of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Must be qualified on and work with some ground support equipment, special calibration equipment, and
special tools.
- Shall be able to correctly prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standards on assigned
projects.
- The Aircraft Painter may work on all aircraft systems, beyond their field of expertise by working as a general
Aircraft Mechanic I as needed.
- Follows direction of higher graded workers.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
- Must have 3 years aircraft corrosion control/painting experience.
- Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks
is mandatory.
- May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. Military rating may substitute.
- 18 months as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), Quality Insurance Inspector, or Inspector Authorization
(IA) preferred.
- Must complete CDI qualification syllabus and all qualifications to obtain CDI within 90 days of
employment if needed.
- Thorough understanding of DOD aircraft maintenance processes preferred.
- Must be able to inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including all assigned Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with applicable directives, and ensure that those assets are
utilized in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
- Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Obtain/maintain security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements.
- Must be able to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
- Current valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Ability to travel
- Must participate in the training and qualification of new personnel.
- Must participate in required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual training and ensure that it is
documented in a timely manner.
- Must be willing and able to deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous and professional
manner.
- Must have a working knowledge of aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications—read, interpret,
follow, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
- Must have working knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
Working Conditions:
- Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive climbing, standing,
stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. Must be physically able to perform
duties as assigned and the ability to lift 50lbs.
- Paint shop environment with paint and chemicals present. Filtration systems and masks may be required.
