HDR is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Aviation program in the Midwest. The ideal candidate would be currently located in Missouri or Kansas, and preferably the St. Louis or Kansas City metro areas. We are seeking a new team member with passion for professional services in the aviation market, who can be an immediate leader for HDR or quickly grow into the leadership role in Missouri and Kansas. The primary duties will include planning, designing, directing and monitoring all aspects of multi-discipline airport projects with high degrees of technical complexity and involving managing project staff. The skillset and previous experience desired are open to both previous airside and landside project management. The ideal person for this position would also be passionate about involvement with industry events/professional societies, community support and involvement, and building relationships within the HDR matrix.
The following are additional descriptions of responsibilities for this role:
- Will be responsible for pursuit and delivery of aviation projects in the Missouri and Kansas markets. Projects may include airside, landside and master planning.
- Will collaborate with HDR’s Missouri and Kansas Area leadership and Central Region Aviation Leaders on pursuits and delivery of projects in Missouri and Kansas. May also collaborate on pursuits and delivery of projects located regionally including Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Colorado, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. The primary focus of this position will be on medium to large airports.
- Will be responsible for managing staffing and workload through project development completing project on time and within budget.
- May be involved with the delivery of multiple projects concurrently. Will establish and maintain client relations and be a part of the HDR area leadership team driving the marketing, contracting and negotiations, and project teaming opportunities and decisions.
- Depending on the size and location of projects, as Project Manager for project delivery, may lead design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with other discipline leads and sub-consultant partners.
- Will work with HDR Missouri and Kansas business/accounting managers, project controllers, and regional aviation leadership for project reviews
- Will be responsible for implementing QA/QC procedures, and for the identification and performance of training for personnel.
- Will supervise project staff and act as a mentor for less experienced team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification
- 10 years of aviation-related planning or design experience desired; this may include planning services related to airport master planning and project management experience, or design services for airport landside or airside projects.
- Preference given to Missouri and Kansas located candidates.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

A minimum 5 years project management experience

Professional Engineer (PE) license

MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus)

Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
