POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for leading and supervising the shop, fabrication, repair, service, warehouse, and shipping/receiving activities. Hands on supervisor position that ensures procedures are followed, equipment is maintained, production schedules are met, workflow and operational reporting is maintained, warehouse is properly managed and meet customer needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversees the shop function of large shop are as the supervisor of a team of hydraulic mechanics, fabricators, machinists, field technicians and shipping/receiving associates.
- Makes sure that all service and repair work are completed on time and correct.
- Works with Smartsheet's and excel to keep workflow accurate and updated regularly.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, correct use of equipment, tooling, preventive maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Identifies work priorities, plans daily work and overtime needs. Schedules employees to meet planning needs.
- Work within established safety, quality and environmental standards. Serves as ISO coordinator.
- Direct and coordinate effective and timely problem solving to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Maintain and efficient, clean, safe, and orderly shop environment.
- Coordinates with other departments to facilitate efficient warehouse/shipping/receiving operations.
- Receives and maintains accurate inventory, assisting in cycle counting, maintains bin locator system, and assures goods are received, checked in and stocked in a timely manner. Ensure the accurate preparation of shipments, bills of lading, and shipping documents,
- Performs inside sales function as it relates to the flow of product from vendor to customer in support of shop operations.
- Prepare and provide management reports and documentation in support of shop activities utilizing MRP and Microsoft office suite software.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS – SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience should demonstrate proficiencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of Hydraulic equipment, service, trouble shooting and repair.
- Ability to allocate authority and/or task responsibility to appropriate people.
- Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
- Skill to identify and correct conditions that affect employees’ safety.
- Knowledge and ability to perform inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Working knowledge of correct operation of lathes, welders, milling machines and surface grinders
- Deep knowledge of warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving.
- Able to perform and directly support all of the functions in the shop, a working supervisor role.
- High level of professionalism and ability to instill confidence in customer and suppliers.
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent; fluid power certifications a plus.
Experience: Minimum five years’ experience in managing and leading shop team in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in the fluid power distribution industry.
Other Requirements: A valid Driver’s License and good driving record required.
