Share Your Journey. Change Someone’s Life.
Are you interested in creating deeper meaning and experiences for someone by opening and sharing your wheelchair accessible Vermont home with a sociable, driven, and engaging adult with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities?
Specialized Community Care is looking for a unique and patient individual or couple who will act as a mentor and friend to provide support in accessing the Rutland County community in developing independent living skills.
We want the people we support in shared living settings to successfully access the areas of the community they wish and in the amount that they desire. Skill building and mentoring focus on areas such as creating and living within a budget, accessing medical and dental care, physical fitness, dietary needs, entertainment, social and faith networks, educational and career pursuits to name a few. Ability to provide personal care needs for someone with physical challenges using a hoyer lift and other accessibility tools is required.
Shared Living Providers are independently contracted through our agency and are compensated through a tax-free stipend. A respite budget, accessible vehicle, professional development and training, everyday support and coaching are also provided.
Experience in providing support in emotional regulation and redirection is preferred. Resiliency, adaptability, and sincerity are desired.
We provide extensive training and support in a family work environment. If this sounds like you, let’s talk.
If you are unable to share your home in a shared living setting and this still describes you, we have other rewarding opportunities for you to explore across the region.
Come grow with us! Chose the path less travelled. It will not be boring.
