Job Summary: Employee will develop and secure an established carrier base to build capacity and adequate coverage according to the strategic plan. The position purchases transportation services by qualifying potential contractors and finalizing agreements. The position also solicits business from new and existing customers to build business volume according to the business plan.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a network of outside carriers to move freight in the most profitable manner.
- Negotiate rates with carriers to meet margin requirements and ensure maximum profitability.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and adequate service levels where freight is picked up and delivered using safe, reliable carriers.
- Using electronic means, post information on available trucks and capacity for specific regions.
- Establishes and maintains a book of regular business and builds freight volume from existing customers.
- Solicit new sales by developing leads and cold calling potential customers.
- Book loads tendered from customers, trace loads as needed and handle any other related duties.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with up to 1-2 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or related field with 1-3 years of experience in transportation/logistics
- Ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Demonstrate effective self-management practices and ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives
- Recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems
- Knowledge and ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
- Ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Compensation: Additional compensation can be earned through account growth.
