Job Description
The
Risk Adjustment Coder is responsible for providing support to the Risk Adjustment Department. This position will work closely with the VBC Risk Director, Program Managers, (Nurse Practitoners) NPs and external vendors to assist with managing the Chronic Disease Managed Visit (CDMV) Program through coding charts and queries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.
- Collaborate with Lead Coder to review CDMV progress notes and CDMV Summary
- Continuous streamlined communication with NPs on queries as needed
- Weekly meeting with Lead coder to discuss any barriers on receiving responses to queries or any questions regarding coding
- Stay up to dates with CMS Coding Guidelines as identified for Risk Adjustment (CPT and ICD codes)
- Collaborate with coordinators and specialists for adhoc projects as needed
- Track charts that have been completed for coding
- Use of multiple EMRs for coding and having access to patient history
- Attend weekly team meetings, 1-1 meetings with management, and other meetings as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of department records per department protocol, including sensitive information related to company, licensing, patient medical and personal information.
- Provide support to all department members as needed and/or directed.
- Responds courteously and professionally to internal and external colleagues via phone calls, office visits, correspondence etc.
- Actively promote GUEST customer service standards; develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Participate in team concepts and promote a team effort; perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provides administrative and clerical support for assigned departments as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Requirements include:
- CRC Certification required
- Bachelor's degree preferred not required; degree in public health, decision sciences, business or another analytical disciplines strongly preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in coding CPC and/or CRC
- EMR experience required
Proficient with all Microsoft Office products, including Outlook and Word.
