Job Summary:
PLNU is looking to hire a career-minded, self-motivated, and responsible aspiring professional who can assist in the management of projects for Campus Facilities. The Project Manager I works in collaboration as a part of the Design and Construction Management team and needs to be able to work independently and professionally with minimal supervision. Candidates must be trustworthy and reliable, possess leadership traits at an above-average level, and be willing to learn and grow in our team dynamic. Highly desirable traits will include the ability to develop strategic plans and processes for handling small and large tiered projects, be able to maintain a professional approach while handling customers, vendors and deadlines, and have the capacity to keep confidential information with discretion and trustworthiness. A successful candidate must be an excellent communicator (both verbal and written), organized, and possess computer skills.

Job Description:
What You'll Be Doing:
Manage construction process with low-level (Tier 3) and mid-level (Tier 2) without direct supervision.
Assist in the project process from request input to project closeout while maintaining accurate documentation to achieve successful project completion.
Assist in the preparation of RFPs, and solicitation and evaluation of bids.
Assist in writing project procedures and implementing those procedures with a high level of continuity.
Communicate professionally through verbal and written forms of communication, such as email, text, Fastfield forms, Google Docs, and Word. Also, have knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.
Assist in estimating budgets and ordering supplies necessary to complete projects.
Assist in the review, negotiation, and processing of change orders with both customers and vendors.
Receive invoices and expedite payments.
Work within the parameters of budgets and maintain a level of quality while executing a successful project completion.
Meet with customers, vendors, and other staff in a professional manner, be able to extrapolate information from meetings, and effectively put together an action plan.
Review plans for completeness and accuracy.
Lead project meetings when necessary and maintain meeting minutes.
Assist in inspecting building envelopes, systems, equipment, and facilities to ensure proper installation and operation.
Manage open item lists and follow through with the execution of tasks and closeout of lists.
Effectively plan and communicate the scope of tasks, both large and small, to vendors and other employees.
Prepare reports using different software programs as needed for the University and the Assistant Director of Design and Construction Management.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Design and Construction Management.
Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of 3 - 5 years in a related field.
Communicate professionally through verbal and written forms of communication, such as email, text, Fastfield forms, Google Docs, and Word. Also, have knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.
Ability to read plans and specification sheets.
Applicants are able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of construction documents, the sequence of construction-related tasks, and practical knowledge of alternate materials/methods, construction costs, value engineering techniques, and California building codes.
Customer service experience.
Ability to establish and maintain a professional rapport with both internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to be a team player and assist others.
Strong work ethic.
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Google Suite, Word, Excel, and Fastfield. Experience in Team Dynamix or similar CMMS system knowledge is helpful.
Fluent in English.

Bachelor’s degree preferred or certification in a related field, such as Construction Management.
