The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts, sourcing product, managing inventory, and preparing reports (e.g. on orders and costs.) For this role, you should have good knowledge of market research, along with solid analytical skills to make sure you’re identifying the most profitable offers.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research potential vendors
- Compare and evaluate offers from suppliers
- Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing
- Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses
- Ensure that daily stock enquiry reports are produced and that appropriate daily action is taken to achieve continuity of supply of product
- Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage
- Ensure that stock levels are checked on a daily basis and that stock holdings are maintained at optimum level without endangering stock levels
- Responsible for purchase of raw materials, supplies and equipment
- Ensure pricing is accurate
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery
- Review quality of purchased products and charge back suppliers for defective product
- Communicate with other departments, supervisors and managers regarding relevant issues
- Interface and support the internal sales team to foster an excellent working relationship regarding not only component requirement, but information relating to availability, technical help and advice
- Support the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments with the sales team
- Be flexible and understand the need to complete urgent tasks outside normal working hours
- Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Proven work experience as a Purchasing Agent or similar role
- Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors)
- Understanding of supply chain procedures
- Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analysis
- Negotiation skills
- BS in Logistics, Business Administration or relevant field

Pay: $44,915.91 - $55,092.28 per year
