Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients using critical thinking, judgment, and leadership skills. This position will help support the Med/Surg and the Emergency Department.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Assess, reassess patient support system (physiologic, psychosocial, and educational) needs within the unit’s specific timeframes according to culture and population specific requirements.
- Coordinates care delivery, completes, validates (teach back) Performs and documents patient support system education to promote quality outcomes and preparation for safe transition in care (discharge, self-care, end of life, palliative care, rehab, etc.)
- Serves as a leader in delegating patient care duties according to the 5 Rights of Delegation: (Right task, Right circumstances, Right person, Right directions and communications, Right supervision, and evaluation)
- Performs and documents, in a timely manner, routine and crisis interventions based on patient data, evidence-based practice and identified outcomes (physiologic, psychosocial, educational) according to population specific requirements.
- Establishes and maintains effective collaboration and communication remaining open to feedback with patient support system, charge nurse, MDs, supervisor, and other members of the healthcare team. Utilizes chain of command as appropriate.
- Handles, administers, and documents medications and parenteral therapies according to the medication policy.
- Demonstrates consistent ability to facilitate excellence in patient care through serving as a positive role model, ethical practice, utilizing customer service programs (hourly care rounding, white board, AIDET, etc.) and participating in quality initiatives (bedside report, fall prevention, scorecards, etc.)
- Documents patient care outcomes concisely and completely according to standards and reports, in timely manner, significant findings. Formulates, evaluates, documents, and modifies and documents an individualized plan of care based on patient support system identified outcomes, cultural Identity, and initiates referrals to multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
- Ensures that nursing practice is consistent with MRH policies, procedures, evidence based, designated and safe use of MRH equipment.
Requirements:
- Associate’s in Nursing at minimum
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee.
- Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if license is not in Tennessee.
