Under the supervision of Geffen Academy's Chief Financial & Administrative Officer (CFAO), following the guidelines set up by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will participate in health maintenance and disease prevention in children and families in a school setting. Assist Educators in health education, collaborate in planning and promoting the health-screening events, promote self-health care, disease prevention and family education. The LVN will collaborate with educators and UCLA Researchers with an interest in health-related issues.

Qualifications

Two years' experience in a health office or related job. (Required)
- Experience using, charting, and navigating electronic medical record systems including but not limited to Magnus Health. (Required)

Demonstrated working knowledge of medication administration procedures, modern medical terminology, equipment, techniques, procedures, and accepted methods and principles of personal hygiene. (Required)

Demonstrated working knowledge of environmental health and safety standard/regulations in an educational setting to deliver health programs according to national, state, and school-specific operations. (Required)

Knowledge of Public Health agencies and local health care resources to gather information and provide health information to parents and school community. (Required)

Analytical skills to assess situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action during routine and emergency situations. (Required)

Ability to develop and evaluate procedures to assure accurate inventory control and create and maintain inventory of office/medical materials and equipment for the Health Office and classroom emergency supplies kits. (Required)

Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, including listening skills, to facilitate communication with students of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds and establish good working relationships with educators, staff, parents, and children. (Required)

Ability to maintain confidentiality of health records and other students' information. (Required)

Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. (Required)

Demonstrated writing skills to produce concise, grammatically correct correspondence and or reports for the School and State. (Required)

Ability to work independently and follow through with minimum directions and prioritize numerous job responsibilities when there are frequent interruptions, changes in workload and assignments. (Required)

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Associate's Degree in Education and experience equivalent to two years college-level course work in nursing, health education or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
- State of California Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners license issued by the CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners. (Required) And

CPR, AED and first aid certification for healthcare professionals from the American Red Cross or other accredited institution. (Required)
