Summary: Line Cooks at The Shuckin’ Shack are an important part of our Culinary Team. Line Cooks prepare our products according to recipes, build files, and standards. SOB Culinary responsibilities are to provide our guests with the highest quality products. We do this by adhering to the recipes, prep shelf lives, product rotations, and proper storage procedures. SOB Line Cooks are key in our ability to serve the quality of menu items that we do consistently. SOB Line Cooks will also maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen. At Shuckin’ Shack, we work as a team and when help is needed, we all jump in. Line Cooks will be asked to help the Dishwasher and Prep Cooks at various times to maintain the quality, consistency, and timeliness of our menu to our guests. Required Experience: Experience in a Line Cook position in a high-volume restaurant.
Preferred Experience:
· 1 or more years preparing foods and in the Line Cook position in a high-volume restaurant
Required Knowledge:
· Basic cooking terminology.
· Basic understanding of food items, kitchen tools, and equipment.
· Intermediate reading skills for following recipes and build file directions.
· Food Sanitation and Safety (can acquire upon hire).
Required Skills:
· A passion for a culinary career.
· Utilizing, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen equipment.
· Cooking basics.
Required Abilities:
· Able to stand and walk for an 8-hour shift.
· Able to read and interpret written instructions.
· Able to have the dexterity necessary to manipulate cooking tools and equipment properly.
· Able to communicate with staff and management effectively.
· Able to identify problem areas and bring to management’s attention.
· Able to manage multiple activities at once and prioritize effectively.
· Able to lift 50 lbs.
Essential Job Duties:
· To produce the highest quality products for our guests every shift.
· Prepare and cook foods to order as ordered and printed on tickets, either found on kitchen printer and/or called by Expeditor.
· Plate foods according to specifications and standards.
· Ensure foods prepared are in accordance with the US FDA Food Code.
· Keep kitchen equipment cleaned and maintained according to checklists, and as directed.
· Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines as required.
